Instastyle – Behind The Scenes At Marshalls

1 – Ready to style some Boston bloggers, college reporters and other fashionistas for an event at the new Marshalls store in Fenway, rocking one of my favorite Marshalls finds, DVF lace up booties.

2 – The perfect patterned shirt for a stylist (by L.A.M.B. at TJMaxx/Marshalls)

3 – The great new location to shop in Boston

4 – The cute Marshalls logo was shaped like a homeplate for Fenway Park.

5 – Yummy cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcakes were served on cupcake stands I found in the home section at Marshalls.

6 – A still life display that I put together of some of the current trends you can find at Marshalls, like the smoking slipper and houndstooth printed bags.

7 – This oxblood and brocade cross body bag was such a find and right on trend.

8 – Marshalls is known for amazing shoes at bargain prices. The ladies I styled scored in the shoe section with boots by Cole Haan, Michael Kors, and even Sorel snow boots and they all loved the color blocking on these pumps by Guess.

Check it out if you’re in town or if you can’t make it, your local Marshalls gets shipments in every week, so it’s always fun to see what turns up. I just did all of my holiday shopping the other day there!

Flashback Friday – Sweater on Beach

Marilyn Monroe in Sweater on Beach (The Last Photos), 1962, by George Barris

This is one of my favorite images of Marilyn Monroe, where she traded in her glamorous persona for a casual look that makes wearing a warm sweater look so cool. As the temperatures begin to drop once again, I will be breaking out those cozy sweaters and can only hope that they look this good. There’s nothing like a good sweater that makes you feel AND look good.

This image also reminds me that so many people were devastated by hurricane Sandy on the beaches of NY and NJ and are still without power, heat or even homes. Please donate your blankets to Occupy Sandy to keep these people warm. They currently have NONE, so even if you just ship one, you will make a difference. Find out more at

Blog Love

I usually don’t have time to surf the blogosphere, as my job keeps me on my feet all day and far from my laptop. Though, when I find a great blog that I can check out on a rainy day, I can get lost in them for hours.

I recently discovered these two fashionable and fabulous blogs, WOMANISTA and MEREDITH AND THE NEW YORKIE, which are now part of my “daily reads”—which are more like weekly on my schedule—and I feel so honored that they both recently featured me on theirs this past week. is a site by a Nashville based fashionista, Cassie, that gives an inside look at the latest trends, travel, decor, music, beauty and anything else going on that you may want to know about. From her recent red carpet appearance at the CMA’s to a home DIY how to, you’re going to want to follow what this one is up to next.

I love how real Meredith is in her blog along with her adorable yorkie, Gwyneth. She’s a stylish NYC gal on a recession budget, showing us that a 500 square foot apartment can look like it’s out of a home decor magazine and that dumpster diving for a great DIY is more glamorous than you’d think.

Friends in High Places

It’s good to have friends in high places—or you can just follow Dear Andi.

Unfortunately I can’t get you into the Louboutin sample sale, but you can get into these secret online sales that are ending today!

Lands End and their stylish sister line, Canvas are having friends and family sales today with 30% everything AND free shipping. It’s now time to stock up on your Lands End winter basics like this stylish blogger, Meredith, did during the Nor’Easter last week, and not to mention their pajamas and cozy flannel sheets make great holiday gifts. I’ll be gladly accepting both.

You can also get 25% off today at one of my favorite local shops with a secret online sale at Brooklyn Industries. Their tees make great gifts and their bags are incredibly durable. With all of the Brooklyn news lately, you can also show your BK love without having to make the trip by rocking one of their Brooklyn-branded items!

Your friend, Liz
