Perfect Vacation Pieces

dear_andi_vacation_outfit

July 4th usually feels like the official start to summer, so happy official summer!

It’s also around the time that I begin to shed my usual “uniform” of all black like most folks in the fashion industry tend to wear, and opt for lighter, easy breezy pieces. When I vacationed on the Cape with friends this past weekend, I definitely would have stood out in black, so instead of the local preppy style, I went for my summer go-to flowy, free-spirited pieces.

It makes it easier to travel when you can throw in all the pieces you love together in a suitcase and they all go together, like these sandals that go with just about any of my summer looks.

A fun pouch like this one or this one can also double as a makeup case or live inside of your beach tote to be taken out at night for an instant evening clutch.

I recently discovered these Mala Prayer necklaces that are the perfect way to throw on an accessory for your travel look—plus it makes you feel good wearing it, especially when you know that proceeds go to MS Society.

Speaking of jewelry, did you enter the Chloe + Isabel GIVEAWAY here? Only one more day left to win a fabulous FREE necklace!

Red, White, and Firmoo

Okay, sometimes fashionistas can be label snobs. I’ve been guilty of this. Though, when it comes to sunglasses, sometimes I wonder why we pay so much money for a piece of plastic. Don’t get me wrong, I love a pair of designer sunglasses, but there’s only so many I can afford to buy—especially when they tend to go out of style so quickly.

I recently found out about the site Firmoo, which has the most affordable sunglasses (and glasses) for the quality that I’ve seen. Each pair comes with a beautiful case, cleaning cloth and even a tool to tighten and loosen your frames. Ordering the pair I chose was a breeze and you can easily get your prescription lenses in them. I have a feeling it’s hard to stop at just one pair when they make it that easy.

Just for the July 4th holiday, you too can try this out and get 2 pairs of glasses with standard lenses for just $49 from Firmoo with the code 2FOR49 at checkout.

Have a happy and safe 4th of July!

Jewelry Advice & A Chloe + Isabel Giveaway!

DEAR ANDI,

Do you have any tips on how to keep a necklace from turning around and keep the clasp in the back?

-Samantha, Long Island, NY

Dear Samantha,

I feel your pain. We always have those close friends or good Samaritans that will let you know that your necklace flipped around, but it seems more often than not that the clasp of your necklace creeps around to the front to say “hi.” I recently discovered that the brand Chloe & Isabel puts a charm at the end of the links in the closure, which I’ve found actually keeps the necklace in place because of the weight of it hanging down your neck.

You can do one of the following to your necklaces to prevent the ol’ clasp creeper:

1) Add a similar chain extender with a charm to your necklace.

2) Clasp a small bracelet or broken necklace chain to the back of your necklace so it hangs down your back (works better when your hair is down).

3) Rely on your friends or others to tell you when your necklace is flipped around.

4) Shop for similar necklaces from Chloe + Isabel.

5) Enter the giveaway below from this local Brooklyn Chloe + Isabel merchandiser and win the necklace seen here that is less likely to flip around.

(Option #5 sounds pretty awesome, doesn’t it?)
