New Work Alert: Faviana

Have you ever seen a celeb strut down the red carpet and wished you could wear something just like that? Then you realize that you probably can’t afford a $5000 dress you may only wear once?

Faviana‘s gowns and cocktail dresses were designed based on this concept and resemble the top designers looks for a fraction of the price.

When I was hired to style them, I had to make sure with accessories and shoes that they looked like these red carpet dazzlers but wearable enough for girls going to formal events like homecoming and prom.

Did I mention I had to do this with $0 for my budget??

This stylist had to get creative and not only use my own designs, my own vintage pieces, and also jewelry from other designer friends like Beth Lauren. I also had to make sure I was able to return everything purchased so my assistant carefully re-tagged each item and taped the soles of every shoe. It was quite the challenge when there are about 30-40 dresses to capture. Check it out below…

Below is also a behind the scenes of one of my favorite looks—partly because it’s a fun Gatsby style dress and partly because it was one of the few samples that didn’t need any clamping or other tricks to make it fit. I love that you can also see how the shoes were taped on the bottoms so I could return them after the shoot. Oh the life of a stylist!

Holiday Re-Cap

Happy 2013! Sorry to leave you hanging over the holidays, but even stylists need a little vacation—or at least a “staycation” in NYC.

I’m so excited to recently been invited to try out the new and improved recent launch of Qwiki…and just in time for me to share with you what I’ve been up to over the holiday season. Check it out.
