Madonna Flashback Friday

Sketch by your favorite stylist, circa 1980′s

I recently found this drawing I did as a kid of a fashionable Madonna still Vogue-ing when she’s 70. I wasn’t far off—Madonna may be more fit than I am right now and she’s 54 years old.

While being glued to the hurricane coverage this week, I completely missed that Madonna was on Ellen, showing her Vogue moves, looking as stylin’ and gorg as ever. As you can tell by this drawing, I’m was HUGE fan of her then and even now.

If only we could all pull off a cone bra like that…

Ellen and Madonna on this week

Happy Friday!

Another Person’s Treasure

It’s difficult for me to post about fashion today when there’s so much devastation going on around me at the moment.

Yesterday was the first time that we felt safe enough to walk all over Brooklyn since the superstorm, Sandy, hit us in NYC. I was able to drop off a few bags of clothing, food, toiletries, and even a phone charger at the Red Hook Initiative.

Being Red Hook was hit hard by the storm, with much of it under water and much of the area impoverished, the residents are desperately in need—so much that had people grabbing from my hands before I could even drop the items on the table.

If you can’t volunteer or donate money and while you’re being tempted by those post-hurricane flash online sales, please consider donating these items:

printer paper
baby items: diapers etc.
pet food
phone chargers
