New Work Alert – Maxxinista & Marie Claire

Happy Black Friday!

I hope you’re recovering from your last night’s feast and if you’re braving the stores today, you’re doing it wisely.

Recently, I styled a series of videos for TJ Maxx, which teamed up with Marie Claire to show you some tips when scouring for the perfect score at TJ Maxx. These tips could help you on a crazy shopping day like today.

Of course it helps that I pre-picked the finds and made sure they got some on-screen time. Check out one of my favorites in the series:

Thanksgiving Style

1 - Dorothy Perkins scarf

2 - AllSaints top

3 - OASAP blazer

4 - Madewell notebook

5 - Current Elliot cords

6 - Dolce Vita oxfords

7 - Ariella Collection ring

On this Thanksgiving, I hope you have so much to be thankful for.

Why not have everyone at your dinner write it all down in this adorable notebook beforehand and you can read it all during dessert? It’s also a special keepsake to gift to your host (even if you’re that person!).

If you’re just spending time with family, why not be comfy with a pair of stretchy skinny cords? Pair it with this top that is cute enough to pack if you’ll be going out the night before and this blazer that polishes your casual look.

STYLIST TIP: Oxfords are a good way to look festive without having to break out the heels, while this ring shows just how lucky you are on this holiday.

If you’re like me and get cold after eating a big meal, you’ll want to bring along a cute scarf to keep warm. Go ahead and indulge on all of the pie!

Enjoy your holiday!

How To DIY A Mask For A Masquerade

earrings: Beth Lauren, photos by Paul Sirisalee

While traveling for work last week, I received a last minute invitation to a benefit for hurricane Sandy at the Green Building in Brooklyn. It was a great cause with the proceeds going to Occupy Sandy and the Red Hook Initiative, but I was hesitant to go. The theme of the soiree was “Bourbon and Masques” and I didn’t have a mask, let alone time to make one.

My fabulous friend, Kimberley, came to the rescue and found this gorgeous and easy D.I.Y. to make these fun masks for all of us with just some printable templates, tulle, puffy paint and ribbon.

It was a shame to let these go to waste and I’m hoping to convince Kimberley to reuse them. With all of the holidays coming up, these are a perfect excuse for a masquerade!

Instastyle – Behind The Scenes At Marshalls

1 – Ready to style some Boston bloggers, college reporters and other fashionistas for an event at the new Marshalls store in Fenway, rocking one of my favorite Marshalls finds, DVF lace up booties.

2 – The perfect patterned shirt for a stylist (by L.A.M.B. at TJMaxx/Marshalls)

3 – The great new location to shop in Boston

4 – The cute Marshalls logo was shaped like a homeplate for Fenway Park.

5 – Yummy cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcakes were served on cupcake stands I found in the home section at Marshalls.

6 – A still life display that I put together of some of the current trends you can find at Marshalls, like the smoking slipper and houndstooth printed bags.

7 – This oxblood and brocade cross body bag was such a find and right on trend.

8 – Marshalls is known for amazing shoes at bargain prices. The ladies I styled scored in the shoe section with boots by Cole Haan, Michael Kors, and even Sorel snow boots and they all loved the color blocking on these pumps by Guess.

Check it out if you’re in town or if you can’t make it, your local Marshalls gets shipments in every week, so it’s always fun to see what turns up. I just did all of my holiday shopping the other day there!

Flashback Friday – Sweater on Beach

Marilyn Monroe in Sweater on Beach (The Last Photos), 1962, by George Barris

This is one of my favorite images of Marilyn Monroe, where she traded in her glamorous persona for a casual look that makes wearing a warm sweater look so cool. As the temperatures begin to drop once again, I will be breaking out those cozy sweaters and can only hope that they look this good. There’s nothing like a good sweater that makes you feel AND look good.

This image also reminds me that so many people were devastated by hurricane Sandy on the beaches of NY and NJ and are still without power, heat or even homes. Please donate your blankets to Occupy Sandy to keep these people warm. They currently have NONE, so even if you just ship one, you will make a difference. Find out more at
